IEA-Indonesia joint workshop focuses on emergency preparedness
16 June 2010
The growing relationship between the IEA and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia (MEMR) has led to a number of co-operation projects, key among them a joint initiative between the IEA, MEMR and the Secretariat General of the National Energy Council of Indonesia (SGNEC) to establish the country’s oil and gas emergency preparedness and crisis response.
As the first step, the IEA and the SGNEC held a workshop in Jakarta on 16-17 June to provide information to and share IEA practices with Indonesian officials, industry representatives and regulators to start developing Indonesia’s preparedness policy, legislation and measures. The workshop included participants from the Ministry of Energy of Thailand, which has been working with the IEA since September 2007 on building Thailand’s national emergency preparedness. IEA Director of Energy Markets and Security Didier Houssin is pictured presenting at the workshop.
